ABOUT

Years of Experience
Awards & Honors
My journey in visual storytelling began early, fueled by a love for both photography and cartooning. I did my schooling at Gujarathy Vidyalaya in Mattanchery and Central School in Kalpakkam, Chennai, before earning a degree in Economics from Sacred Heart College in Kochi. During my college days, I was a contributing cartoonist for Deshabhimani, using humor and satire to depict contemporary issues.
While pursuing my MA in English Literature, I was selected as a photographer trainee at Malayala Manorama, India’s largest circulated vernacular daily, which set me on the path of professional photojournalism. Since then, I have worked across Kerala in Trivandrum, Palakkad, and Kochi, covering a diverse range of stories. My assignments have taken me across the country and abroad for capturing defining moments in sports and politics.
BEYOND THE VIEWFINDER
I began my career in Malayala Manorama in 1988 as a trainee photographer, stepping into a world where every frame told a story. Over the years, I navigated the ever-changing landscape of photojournalism, capturing the pulse of Kerala through political events, spot news, sports, feature stories, and daily beats. Today, as the Picture Editor based in Kochi my lens continues to document the heartbeat of news, bringing moments to life for readers.
With 18 awards to my name, including a hat-trick in the Kerala State Government awards, as well as national and international honors, my journey has been both challenging and fulfilling.
While I am deeply committed to capturing the grit and drama of real life events, I must confess that nature photography and I don’t see eye to eye. Trees don’t argue, rivers don’t protest, and sunsets don’t hold press conferences. Give me a chaotic election rally or a last minute cricket win any day over a perfectly still landscape. Afterall , the thrill of news is in its unpredictability, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
