In a quiet yet powerful moment, Muhammad Rayyan from Malappuram takes his first steps with a newly fitted Jaipur foot, his face reflecting a mix of wonder and resolve. The occasion, held at Priyadarshini Hall, Kakkanad, was part of a heartfelt initiative led by the Kalamassery Rotary Club with the support of the Ernakulam District Panchayat, where 100 lives were gifted the promise of movement. Watching with gentle encouragement are Rotary Club official Thomas Varghese, District Collector N.S.K. Umesh, and District Panchayat President Manoj Moothedan
Some moments leave more than just pictures.
At the Elderly Fest in Kakkanad, I watched a group of seniors aged 65–76 dance their hearts out in a Margamkali competition — and win first prize.
They trained for over a month with Sister Nimmi, supported by Vayomitram coordinator Sudha Vijayan.

They said the training helped ease their pains — and brought back laughter, movement, and meaning into their daily lives.
Their joy was real. Their motivation — contagious.

Wall of Expression
Bringing color to the walls of Puthuvype’s Vazhuthanam colony, a group of local residents and students join hands to transform their neighborhood through art. The vibrant mural project, led by artist Sruthi and her team, is part of a community beautification initiative that celebrates creativity and togetherness.
Touch of a Lifetime
At Amrita Hospital, Kochi, Sujatha weeps as she kisses the hands of her late husband Vinod—now transplanted onto Amaresh, a grateful recipient. Flanked by her son and sister, the moment is raw, intimate, and steeped in grace. The hands that once held her now promise a new life. This powerful image earned the Chennai Photo Biennale Regional Award.
Faith Through the Flood
A priest from the revered Shiva temple at Aluva Manappuram wades through chest-deep waters after offering pooja to Lord Shiva. As monsoon rains swell the Periyar, this submerged ritual becomes a familiar sight—until the waters rise too high for worship to continue.
Kindness on Wheels
Amid the deserted lanes of Fort Kochi during the COVID lockdown, a lone cyclist pedals through silence—his mission, noble. Forgotten by name but remembered in spirit, this Good Samaritan collected leftover meat from shops, cooked it, and fed the starving stray dogs that once thrived on tourist generosity.
Shot of Hope
An elderly woman braces herself as a syringe, held by an unseen nurse, signals the moment of her COVID-19 vaccination at a mass drive in a Kochi auditorium. Vaccines changed the course of the pandemic—one jab at
