From Governor to Citizen — A Quiet Farewell

P.S. Sreedharan Pillai waits at Ernakulam South Railway Station for his train to Kozhikode. He had arrived in Kochi as the chief guest for a memorial event held in honor of Prof. M.P. Manmadhan. Interestingly, it turned out to be his final official engagement as Governor.

Though he took the stage at 10:30 a.m. still holding the post, by 11:30 a.m., a new Governor had assumed charge in Goa, officially ending his tenure. From that moment, he stepped down from the dais as an ordinary citizen.

Despite demitting office, he was accompanied by a police escort on his way to the station. Seen on the far right of the image is Satjan Salgaokar, his personal security officer from Goa for the past four years, who now returns to his duties there.
